New Signing

STARLING swoops for Slim Jim.

If you ask for a Slim Jim in the United States, you get a processed meat stick. If you ask for a Slim Jim in the UK, you get James Worsley—director, editor, and camcorder lover.

If you ask for a Slim Jim in the United States, you get a processed meat stick. If you ask for a Slim Jim in the UK, you get James Worsley—director, editor, and camcorder lover (so much so that he collects and rents out camcorders on the side). First and foremost, he's a talented commercials director now on the books at STARLING.

Managing director Charlie Stanfield says: "I've always admired James’s work and we’ve worked together before, so signing him to STARLING is an exciting new chapter for us. He's a genuine craftsman, a great collaborator, and a lovely guy. I couldn't be happier to be representing him."

And what does Worsley have to say about all this? "I've known Charlie for years and I know his passion and belief is on the same level as mine, so I couldn't be more excited to be joining STARLING and creating some killer work."

Worsley 'kills' it on a Casio G-Shock commercial that turns out to be an epic fail in the best possible way. The watch brand encourage us to embrace each shortcoming—naturally, the cast refuse to let setbacks define them.

Even if there's little on-screen failure, the cast run, drum, and weld in impressive fashion, while the lofty script is delivered in a steely Yorkshire brogue for good measure. On top of that, Worsley and co-director Pedro de la Fuente capture enough sweat and toil to lubricate several sports ads.

Starling

Starling

Charlie Stanfield launched Starling in 2022 with "optimism, energy, and a small blue notebook". The company's grown so much over the years, it might treat itself to some personalised stationery. This is in large part down to a talented roster that Stanfield has taken the utmost care over. When directors are nurtured and supported like they are at Starling, clients reap the benefits.
