Rogue swoops for Andrew De Zen.

Andrew De Zen, director of 'The Robbery' for Amnesty International, is now represented by Rogue in the UK after a string of polished and thoughtful commercials.
Andrew De Zen, director of 'The Robbery' for Amnesty International, is now represented by Rogue in the UK. Released in January this year, 'The Robbery' uses the tropes of an action thriller to ramp up the tension in a clever piece of misdirection. A trio sat in a car outside a bank look, for all the world, as though they are intent on robbery, but their aim is altogether different, and a great deal more honourable.

You can tell how much it means to De Zen: "Amnesty International is easily the most rewarding project I've ever had the pleasure of working on. It's a subject that is deeply personal to me, and being able to express a small hint of the collective emotions and anger around the war in Ukraine was something that needed to be said. To be recognised for this twice at Ciclope [Gold for Special Section, Low Budget and Bronze for Direction, Over 120 Seconds] is very special." |
|
To make films like this, De Zen trusts the process: "My technique comes down to having to break something apart logically to then reconstruct it again. That smashing of practical meets chaotically creative allows me to really flow. I try to surround myself with the most talented and kind-hearted people who can elevate everything we do. Directors are nothing without their teams, so casting the right crew is just as important as finding the right fit for the cast." |

Andrew's in the early stage of what promises to be a stellar directing career, which makes it beyond exciting that he's chosen Rogue as his production company of choice. |

The Canadian soon found the right production company to hook up with: "Putting aside for a moment that the team is incredibly talented and all around amazing souls, the philosophy and name Rogue really resonates. It can be a tough thing to find places and people you truly feel like you can belong with, and I've always seen myself as a bit of a lone wolf. A team of Rogues with people trying to make the best work possible really connects with what I want to do. I can't wait to explore that together with them. It's a great place to call home!" |
|
He's welcomed home, so to speak, by owner and managing director Kate Taylor, who says: "Andrew De Zen is a supremely talented young filmmaker who shows real flair in his work. He's in the early stage of what promises to be a stellar directing career, which makes it beyond exciting that he's chosen Rogue as his production company of choice - let's GO!" |
