Packer boosts line-up with arrival of MarySue Masson.
5 March 2026
Richard Packer's array of directors at his new production company has increased from five to six with the arrival of MarySue Masson, who brings with her a comedy pedigree that further boosts an already strong offer in this genre.
MarySue Masson, who has just joined the roster at Packer Productions, is a director who hasn't always had the recognition she deserves for a fine catalogue of work that includes one of the most popular campaigns of the last two decades. Her work is consistently funny but she can provide drama when it's needed as well, and is likely to prove a great asset for the fledgling production company.

MarySue Masson is most closely associated with the long-running Haribo campaign which she devised with Quiet Storm's Trevor Robinson. It was advertising with huge popular appeal and a fantastic demonstration of how one simple idea can provide the spur for one stand-out ad after another. He's a 2020 execution from America. (Apologies in advance for the execrable jingle, which had nothing to do with Trevor or MarySue.) |

Masson's more recent work includes a highly acclaimed film, ostensibly for Amazon, which draws attention to difficulties associated with menopause. Working with comedy actor Morgana Robinson and TV presenter Davina McCall, who has only ever dabbled in acting performance cannot have been easy, but Masson lands all the gags in an excellent parody. |
|
Little wonder then that Richard Packer is so pleased to have added her to his roster: "MarySue makes performance look effortless — which, of course, means it’s anything but. She’s brilliantly funny, instinctive with actors, I’m thrilled to have her join Packer Productions." |
|
MarySue Masson adds: "Joining Packer Productions felt like the perfect fit, and I’m chuffed to be part of such a corker of a comedy roster. Richard Packer has a reputation that precedes him, not just for the work, but for the way he works, he’s respected, he’s trusted, (and judging by the reactions I’ve had, clearly well loved)." |
