MOIRAI Films describe themselves as thrilled after adding director William Armstrong to their roster of talent for the UK market.
MOIRAI Films have added Botswana-born, Denmark-based director William Armstrong to their offer, and are thrilled about his wealth of international expertise and the distinctive cinematic voice that he brings to their roster. According to their press release, Armstrong's work "blends craft, emotion and purpose" to create "the kind of storytelling that sticks with you".

A recipient of a Young Director Award in Cannes and the Kinsale Sharks' Best New Director prize as he emerged, Armstrong has built a reel of impressive work for some of the industry's best-known brands, at the same time as creating a portfolio of short films which have been screened at over fifty international festivals, including Tribeca; and his work has been featured in The New Yorker, and exhibited at the Trapholt Museum of Modern Art. |
|
This road safety film from Ireland from earlier this year offers a good exhibition of Armstrong's skills, as it is almost playful in its approach, without under, mining the seriousness of its message. It builds towards its inevitable climax before acknowledging the audience's anticipation of it, which reinforces the idea that if you keep driving in a risky fashion, the odds will get you in the end. |
|
This mesmerising promo for a track by Kormac (ft. Jack O'Rourke) is a showcase for Armstrong's ability to captivate the viewer, and create the illusion of a cavalier approach to health and safety! The sequences on the train feel like such a natural progression from the early part of the promo that it feels as though they have been filmed guerilla-style, even though they plainly have not. That's quite a trick, and the outcome is sensational. |

According to Andrew Porteous, Co-Founder at MOIRAI Films: "William’s work hits you on both a visual and emotional level. We love that balance - it’s what we’re all about at MOIRAI. We’re genuinely excited to back his vision here in the UK and to create work together that feels both bold and honest." |
