Kate Halpin's bound for CANADA.

No longer content to trawl through the company's social media feeds, Australian director Kate Halpin has joined CANADA for commercial representation in the UK, US, and Spain.

Australian director Kate Halpin has joined CANADA for representation in the UK, US, and Spain. She says: I've been a fan (and shameless social stalker) of CANADA for a long time. Their dedication to craft and pushing creative boundaries is hugely inspiring, as are the top-notch bunch of producers leading the helm. I’m beyond excited to be joining such a talented roster of directors and by the opportunity to collaborate with creatives at the top of their game."

This is music to the ears of CANADA's managing director in London, Marta Bobic: "We've long admired Kate's work for its clever humour and art direction, and when we met her, we knew instantly she was the perfect fit. Her ability to blend wit and absurdity with relatability and depth is rare in comedy. Her work is not only funny but beautifully crafted, making it stand out in a truly unique way."

This Leggo's ad, for example, contains scenes some Italians may find disturbing. The brand encourage viewers to bend or even break the rules of Italian cooking, whether that's putting cheese on fish, pineapple on pizza, or breaking pasta in half. Of course, this goes down like a lead garlic bulb in bel paese.
An elderly woman screams red, white, and green murder when Parmesan and mussels collide; a man spits out his drink at the thought of ham and pineapple pizza; and a sculptor is haunted by split spaghetti. These reactions are complemented by some deft food photography—each act of culinary rebellion looks sharp and colourful, just to rub it in the old-school crowd's faces.

CANADA

Don't let the name fool you: CANADA is in fact a production company with bases in London and Barcelona. Its main areas of focus are TVCs and music videos, and the brands and bands its roster of directors has worked with are pretty stellar. Vogue, Beck, Tame Impala... CANADA has a particular aura of cool that attracts A-listers effortlessly, but it's hardly surprising given the calibre of the work.
