Frances O'Sullivan signs for Anonymous Content

Frances O'Sullivan is a director with a singular eye and her films have such a visual flair that they have to be seen to be believed, so it's little wonder that Anonymous Content are so delighted to have added her to their roster.

When you look at Frances O'Sullivan's films you cannot help but be blown away by her astonishing visual flair. She combines casting, styling, make-up design, cinematography and grading to create imagery that is off the charts in terms of its brilliance. And now she is represented in the UK and the US by Anonymous Content, there's an opportunity to broaden the reach of her incredible aesthetic.

Frances O'Sullivan rose to prominence through her fascinating self-portraits which were uploaded to social media, and amassed her a huge following. That provided her with a platform to make the most of the skills she learned at the London College of Fashion where she studied Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics for Performance. As can be seen from the examples of her work here, she has built on those skills to develop a stunning visual language as she has learned other filmmaking crafts.

O'Sullivan's aesthetic is clearly inspired by a love of the rich technicolour and styling of the mid-20th century, but she has taken this look and amped it to the max, creating a striking beauty that is all her own. This is impressive enough in its purest form, as demonstrated by The Lonely Cactus (above) but with the added layer of dialogue in Screen Test (below) you can see that her approach lends itself to narrative as well.

Little wonder then that Tor Fitzwilliams - Anonymous Content's UK MD - has high hopes for the latest director to join her company's eclectic roster: "Frances is a world builder.
