EyeCandy—"a home for industry big names before they've become industry names"—has signed director Freddie Cattaneo, the man behind a string of high-energy promos for Master Peace.
EyeCandy—"a home for industry big names before they've become industry names"—has signed director Freddie Cattaneo. The move follows a bunch of witty, high-energy promos for Master Peace (check out 'How To Make a Master Peace' when you get a chance), as well as bits and pieces for Biig Piig and Ruti Olajugbagbe.

For Master Peace's 'Start You Up', Cattaneo harks back to a strange time when people worked, socialised, and exercised at home. That's right, folks—let's party like it's 2020. Peace Okezie shares a flat with his brother (Alex Grant), sister (Morayo Adeagbo), and grandmother (Remeaise Irish-Downes), but when breakfast is done, everyone 'self-isolates' in separate rooms. Not to protect each other from Covid-19, but to watch TV, walk on treadmills, and work from home. Talk about a buzzkill. "I live like there's no tomorrow/There's nothing left to borrow," he sings, like a man who refuses to sit and stare at his bowl of Cheerios. Instead, he dances so hard that the rhythm spreads throughout the flat. They are together for about three minutes, which makes the comedown even more affecting than anticipated. |

Such work leads MindsEye—EyeCandy's mum and dad—to say: "Freddie's work is narrative-driven, textured and tactile, aiming his lens at pockets of counterculture, thriving when making the everyday feel extraordinary. He's developed an aesthetic that fuses style, authenticity, and irreverent humour." DAVID thinks 'I Might Be Fake' for Master Peace ticks all those boxes. The deal is that the musician bets on 'Outnumbered' actor Daniel Roche's dogs in lane six, then splits the winnings. Even if you detest the sport, it's hard not to root for mates eager to climb the ladder at long last. It also helps that Peace is a self-aware ball of energy with charm to spare—the more 'new rave' the track gets, the more confident he gets around the bookmaker and other gamblers. |
