DAVID plays... a bunch of games.

As another busy year draws to a close, DAVID thought he'd share some of the games he's played over recent months: 'Resident Evil 4', 'Despelote', 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle', 'A Pizza Delivery', and 'Art of Rally'.

As another busy year draws to a close, DAVID thought he'd share some of the games he's played over recent months. Recommendations are always welcome, by the way—if you've got a game that keeps you sane, makes you think, or tops up your happy meter, feel free to let him know! In the meantime, here's five titles DAVID ticked off his infinite list...

Resident Evil 4

A top-to-bottom remake of the 2005 classic, 'Resident Evil 4' puts the pain in Spain. Armed to the teeth and well trained in the art of roundhouse kicks, special agent Leon S Kennedy must rescue the President's daughter from a horde of parasite-ridden cultists. More stressful than scary, it still delivers gorgeous, gory, and grotty action that demands to be replayed—after all, practice makes perfect in the war against Las Plagas.

Meet the village people.

Despelote

Developed by Julián Cordero and Sebastian Valbuena, 'Despelote' is a remarkable antidote to the likes of 'EA Sports FC', 'eFootball', and 'UFL'. Played from a staticky first-person perspective, the game concerns both Julián's childhood in Quito, Ecuador, and the national team's efforts to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. Agustín Delgado may not have pulled up trees or even a weed at Southampton, but he helped millions of Ecuadorians dream like never before.

Road to the World Cup... and dinner time.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

The Indiana Jones series has never grabbed DAVID for some reason. That all changed with 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle', a gorgeous first-person action-adventure game that whips between Vatican City, Gizeh, the Himalayas, Shanghai, Sukhothai, and Iraq. Not only does it look and play the part, it sounds the part, too, with voice actor Troy Baker on top form as Marshall College's errant professor who beats Nazis and Blackshirts alike to a pulp.

Dr Jones, I presume.

A Pizza Delivery

DAVID wishes he'd never ordered 'A Pizza Delivery', a lightweight narrative game that leaves no real impression and makes you wonder if a Chinese or an Indian was a better bet. There's not much to do in the game's sparse, dreamlike world—just drive around on your scooter, chat to a bunch of non-playable characters, and offer them slices of cold pizza. It's not a time sink by any stretch of the imagination and its heart's in the right place, but there are also better things to spend your dough on.

Had your fill yet?

Art of Rally

'Art of Rally' is a love letter to the golden era of—you guessed it—rallying. Photorealism's out and stylised, minimalist visuals are in as players strive to hit zen gear: be fast, not furious. Skill is rewarded, but the game would rather you enjoy the ride first and foremost. An independent spirit means the cars are based on real vehicles but all have wonderful, made-up names like the Meanie (1965 Austin Mini Cooper S), Das Eibenhammer (1986 Audi Quattro RS 002), and the Fujin (1997 Subaru Impreza WRC).
