Rookie Film Club: In the Mood for Love

12 February 2025 - 18:30-22:00

The Mill's new monthly Rookie Club screenings kick off on 12 February with Wong Kar-wai's 2000 classic 'in the Mood for Love'.

On 12 February, The Mill will inaugurate a new monthly series of film screenings that they have dubbed 'The Rookie Club' with 'in the Mood for Love'. The purpose of this initiative is to create opportunities for young directors and others from within the industry with an interest in cinema to commune with one another after taking in some of the greatest films of all time.

Ooo, sounds good. Where is it? The screenings will take place in The Mill's screening room in the basement of their Wardour Street premises.
That's a great space for a screening, isn’t it? It is indeed. A bona fide 72 seat cinema.
What time does it kick off? Doors open at 18:30 for an hour of pizza and drinks, then the screening will begin at 19.30.
And what is this film? I mean, I obviously know it, but, ahem, remind me! Okay, just t remind you, it's a French-Hong Kong production set in 1962 and concerns the relationship that develops between two people who discover their respective spouses are having an affair with one another. It is tender, sweet and funny, and won huge critical acclaim, including a Best Actor award for Tony Leung.

This sounds like a great initiative. Who is behind it? It does. And we wish them every success with it. The Mill's Jack Howard came up with the idea and is curating the series.
