BB-8 visits the post office in these charming tie-in ads for Royal Mail. The vignettes are beautifully constructed, as the little robot rolls through the sorting office and gets into all manner of amusing mischief. Bubble wrap, portentous postcodes, and a leafy doppelganger all play a role, and BB-8's great animation means it's brimming with personality.

Very strange decision to make this black and white.

Royal Mail warn us about the dangers of forgetting to redirect mail when we move house in this straightforward ad. Identity theft can easily occur if a few private letters are opened, as illustrated by a stereotypical-looking criminal who smashes open an envelope like a window. It's blunt and to the point, taking a no-frills approach to get the message across succinctly.

Another safety-conscious ad from the Royal Mail exposes the dange of email phishing scams - and how unlikely we'd be to respond to them if they took place offline. Upon being approached by a shady bloke in a library, a woman happily gives up her bank details without so much as questioning if he's really from her bank. An important lesson, clearly delivered.

The Royal Mail's campaign to alert us to the dangers of identity theft sees a naive woman befriend a total stranger in this commercial. As a metaphor for the online social spaces we inhabit, she lets him into her home because he says he knows her friend Carol. It's a clever way of contrasting the caution we show in real life with the impulsive, thoughtless trust we all too often put in people in the virtual world.

A further spot in the campaign reminding us of the dangers of ID theft features a man handing over all his personal details - plus his bank card - to a salesman who blatantly isn't processing the transaction as he should be. Would we smell a rat in real life? Yes. So what makes us so ready to dismiss the warning signs when we're shopping online?

A bank robbery takes a strange turn in this ad for Royal Mail. Created by M & C Saatchi and directed by Simon Ellis, the dramatic film shows a gang of masked men invading a bank and taking customers and staff hostage. The terrifying scene takes an unexpected direction, however, when it becomes clear that the criminals are after their victims' identities.

A little girl is absorbed in the task of finding the right place to stick a stamp on her parcel. Is it because it's one of the special Christmas competition winning stamps and is extra lovely, like the one shown here? A nice festive touch; though with increasing numbers of people resorting to Amazon, stamps are becoming rare beasts indeed.

Another dose of loveliness from the people who literally bring you Christmas year after year. It's not really clear how we're supposed to respond to this - we either need to send a parcel or we don't and most of the target market probably aren't aware of options other than the Royal Mail.

While the political ramifications of Royal Mail's controversial privatisation rumble on, it's business as usual for the institution as it gets ready to deliver millions of packages in the run-up to Christmas. 'All You Need Is Love', according to The Royal Mail - though - let's face it - you also need the correct postage and woe betide anyone who forgets you have to measure packages as well as weigh them these days.

Some of the more surreal moments from the previous ad have been plundered to make this re-edited version. This is one of those odd campaigns which leaves us unsure how we are supposed to respond... if we find it persuasive will we write more letters?

A lively and intriguing ad uses stop-frame animation to show stuff being made... once it's been made, the Royal Mail will get it to wherever it needs to be. This is a really impressive piece of film but does advertising for the Royal Mail prompt people to use it more or do we just use it when we need to?

Neat piece of animation has the various elements of a postmark forming a human figure and dancing across the envelope. All to let us know that the Royal Mail has come up with a canny scheme to increase postage in a stealthy fashion by varying costs according to size as well as weight.
