Tumbleweed tastes the rainbow in this colourful ad for the Sony Xperia. The film is a spiritual successor to Sony's iconic 'Bouncing Balls' ad, as a fleet of brightly-coloured tumbleweed spills out across the desert, scaring off some sheep and enveloping a car as they go. A relaxed soundtrack adds to the surreal feeling of the piece. Lovely, polished work.

One of two new ads showcasing the Sony Xperia’s technical specs, this instalment stars a cave-dwelling pianist. While it’s no Carnegie Hall, the rugged setting amplifies his skilful recital. The advertised smartphone promises similar results.... though customers will also require “hi-res audio headphones” for the full effect.

Having presumably run out of multi-coloured balloons, Sony switch to white ones in this Xperia ad. An inflatable ‘cloud’ gradually bursts over this rainforest pond, with each liquid explosion rendered in meticulous slo-mo. The languid shower draws the eye - but will it be enough to steal the rival iPhone X’s thunder?

The third in a series of ads for Sony's Xperia smartphone sees the junior scientists return. This time they've got a little adult help with their experiment: dropping confetti-filled balloons onto cactuses. The expected carnage ensues, colourful paper flying everywhere as the balloons explode to the kids' delight. These ads are great fun - director Charlie Phillips has really captured a sense of excitement.

Sony’s pint-sized scientists continue to put the new Xperia XZ smartphone through its paces. Here, the white coats conduct a symphony of sound and colour with some cymbals and a healthy supply of powder paint. Now who's going to clean that up? Regardless, it’s a vibrant demonstration of the phone's acoustics.

This entertaining ad for Sony Xperia showcases the new super slow-motion feature of the phone's camera. A demonstration of the new tech seems appropriate, and is carried out by some white-coated kids who take a creative approach to their scientific endeavours. The casting here is fantastic, as the kids react to the exploding balloons of paint with what feels like genuine delight.

There's a 20" version of this Sony Xperia ad knocking about, but the full-length execution provides a superior rush. Various speed demons across a range of professions are captured in the midst of their flow. Even if we can't chop limes or iron trousers at this rate, the advertised camera phone allows us to capture the moment without motion blur. Pace and precision well-rendered.

This campaign is getting into its stride now. Erstwhile Inbetweener James Buckley appears to be astonishingly like his alter ego Jay in this commercial for the Sony Xperia. He and his mates are messing around in a pool hall and only his unlikely-looking beard separates him from the teenage fantasist he portrayed so convincingly.

Steve Jones folds the advertised phone into everyday life in the latest instalment of this low-key campaign for Sony. It's actually a pleasant half-minute in his company as he introduces us to his dog Dexter who is, he says, completely unpredictable and a good match for the TV presenter. Incidentally, we now realise we were probably supposed to recognise the guy in the first ad in this series... oops.

This was one of those commercials heralded by an announcement on Channel 4 that it was being premiered. It raises expectations that we're about to see something a bit special but - every now and again - it's used to draw attention to a piece of work like this that doesn't really stand out from the crowd and DAVID's left with a puzzled look on his face.

Eerily beautiful, Sony's latest Xperia ad yields up snowboarders, illuminated suits and a wooded mountainside at night. It's hard at first to see what's going on - in fact, you need to pay close attention to suss out what's happening - but it doesn't really matter: the flowing movements of the boarders and the hazy colour that envelops them is captivating enough to make you stop and stare.

This viral for Sony's Xperia phone focuses on one of those insane sporting events that characterise rural life in certain parts of England. Not for these people the rollercoaster ride associated with chasing cheese down a hill... no, they get their kicks from playing football in a shallow river and it's been captured using the marvellously waterproof gadget that's being advertised.

The rise and rise of a young football talent is charted on the Sony Experia One Stadium Live social network in this vibrant ad. Friends and locals who remember seeing him kick a ball around as a youngster are now among the global audience watching him play, and adding their comments to the most relevant and interesting posts that inform the second screen experience unique to the phone.

If you can't have a bath without using your phone while immersed - but you're a bit cackhanded - worry no more: the waterproof Sony Experia is here. And if that doesn't quite persuade you to ditch your old moby, maybe the prospect of a free album of rejected material posthumously released by Michael Jackson's estate might do the trick. No? Thought not.

The Sony Xperia Z2 comes with a host of improvements that give you more bang for your buck than lots of similarly-priced phones on the market. But this spot decides not to go down the route of swamping us with tech-spec detail; instead it goes for the overall wow factor by expressing the experience of using it.

Lovely ad for Sony demonstrating how this particular model is ideal for capturing all those moments you want to remember and share. A cover of Movin' on Up sets the tone, and the quality of the photography suggests the phone's camera will not disappoint.

This short film demonstrates the "connectivity features" of the Xperia Z smartphone. Bands Ok Go and Pyramids collaborated with photographer Martien Mulder to create an audio-visual piece based on the Northern Lights using the phone in question. It's an impressive piece - astonishing to think how far technology's comes since a few yuppies walked around with breezeblocks welded to their ears.

A James Bond type pulls some of the stunts associated with 007 to complete his mission. After the lengths he's gone to, you expect to discover that there is a beautiful woman in need of rescue or a hard drive that needs to be repatriated but this man's needs are altogether more anodyne.

When the advertised proposition appears to be a demonstration of ease, isn't it a little troubling to see the words "sequence shortened" on the screen? In this self-consciously 'cool' ad for a mobile phone, beautiful people 'pass' photos from one phone to another.

There's lots of hairs standing up on the backs of necks as music is transported from one device to the next. It's all very slick looking until you notice the super revealing that the sequence has been "shortened". Doesn't this undermine the whole message? These days, technology to recognise music is widespread... what makes this so special?
