Those with tech-challenged relatives will appreciate this Irish Three commercial. Smartphone in hand, a woman enjoys a, er, face-to-forehead chat with her father. Despite dad’s insistence he’s “getting the hang of it”, mastering FaceTime is still a way off. Plenty of time to practice with the mobile network’s data plan, though.

Some folk collect stamps, other collect vinyl: Eddie O'Mahony, on the other hand, collects Republic of Ireland football shirts. This diverting Three ad charts O’Mahony’s bid to own every national team strip. It’s a shirty trip through Irish football history, while the brand show their support ahead of the World Cup play-offs.

This Three commercial casts a positive light on smartphone culture. A marathon runner toils as the clean-up operation begins. As night falls, even a giant chicken has finished before him. Not that this bloke minds - the finish line will still be there. While we all enjoy sticking our phones on silent, the brand remind us what we can achieve with a little e-encouragement.

This wacky piece of content - created by Gravity Road and made by freelance director Tom Geens - introduces us to man who runs a repair shop by day and operates a strange cult by night. The adherents of his 'church' worship their mobile devices and employ them to reach a higher spiritual plain... or - to put it another way - they use them for endless streaming.

Three expand their menagerie of hybrid beasts with the chill-yet-energetic Dolphasloth. Much like the flamboyant Giraffeamingo - which amusingly combined the most distinctive features of both creatures of origin - this guy features the head and arms of a stoned-looking sloth, and the tail of a peppy dolphin.

"Animals Don't Have Borders"

23 Jun 2017
Comedian Joe Wilkinson delivers a heavily-edited news report in this tongue in cheek ad for mobile network Three. He informs us that animals are sticking their middle paw up at countries who are overprotective of their borders and roaming freely... just as Three customers can with free roaming data. The giraffeamingo make a triumphant return too, just for good measure.

Following in the footsteps of Samsung, Cushelle, and Lotus, Three introduce us to a pair of animated giraffes whose confidence levels couldn't be more different. This time the main mammal is a hybrid - a 'giraffeamingo' combining the most distinctive features of both creatures. Bolstered by the ability to enjoy roaming data wherever it travels to, the beast struts, poses, and finally takes off in sheer delight.

"Maisie Williams vs Black Spots"

Maisie Williams showcases her comedy skills in this enjoyable spoof of beauty ads for Three. The nineteen-year-old takes time out from her busy schedule as a "global TV star and fairness ambassador" to talk about black spots... and not the ones found on your face. Thankfully, this is where Three's 4G Super-Voice enhancement comes in.

Jackson and Will.i.am. turn up as tech-tastic cowboys riding at the gates of dawn in this new spot for Three. The singer and Voice judge has a fashion and technology brand called i.am+, which has developed a voice-activated watch available exclusively through the mobile network, and here the pair ride through the purple-hued night spreading the news to kids out way past their bedtime.

"Christmas Birthdays"

10 Dec 2015
According to this funny ad for Three, those unfortunate enough to have their birthday clash with Christmas know from birth what a raw deal they've got. Brought into the world by a tinsel-wearing doctor, poor Noel (obviously) then endures the same festive birthday mash-up year after year. With Christmas as the main event, his birthday feels tacked on like a badge - the remote control to the remote control car.

The Air Store is ready to help you find a suitable plan for all your breathing needs in this enjoyable Irish ad for Three. While the packages on offer do provide a decent chunk of air, it's best to be avoid any big gulps. Boys and Girl have come up with a clever illustration of the fact many customers regard unlimited data usage as utterly crucial to both our work and social lives.

"Horror Movie Spoof"
5 mins 30s
3 Aug 2015
The Blair Witch Project provides much of the inspiration for this funny spoof of horror movie scenarios featuring Jackson - the muppet introduced by Three TVCs earlier this year. Accompanied by the hapless cameraman Steve, Jackson sets off into the woods to road test a new phone and appears utterly incapable of noticing the strange goings on.

"Oh Tom"

Jackson the muppet continues his tireless quest to make everything all right in the world. In this fun encounter, he has to persuade a doubtful customer as to Three's reliability. Along with his trademark enthusiasm, he has the stats to back it up by way of a YouGov poll. Another effective scenario and one that'll make viewers wish Jackson would pay them a visit.

"Beach Selfie"

3 Jul 2015
Pete's doing 'duck face on the beach' according to the brand's familiar Muppet in another amusing instalment in this winning campaign. The real purpose of this communication - which is something about using your mobile phones inexpensively when abroad - gets a little bit lost in all the frivolity, but it's got a singing Muppet so who cares.

"Katie in the Café"

23 Jun 2015
A sweet reprise for the muppet who appeared in a spectacular commercial earlier this month. He reminds us that 3's 4G network will enable you to enjoy fast-streaming wherever you are. There's something rather delightful about the look on Katie's face when she joins in the chanting at the end and we'd definitely like to see the outtakes.

Three has pulled out all the stops here to let us know they're going to make everything right as far as network gripes are concerned. How? They've enlisted the help of a diminutive purple popster who is on a mission to correct the wrongs of the mobile telephony world. No, Prince hasn't been brought out of storage to man the helm - this is Jackson, of Muppet descent.

"The Lonliest Whale"
2 mins 17s
24 May 2015
In this delightful film made for Three in Ireland from a script by Boys and Girls in Dublin and directed by Park Pictures's Tom Tagholm, we learn about a whale whose song can't be heard by others of his species. The intrepid scientist studying this sad animal appears something of a loner himself and when you see him sat by himself in a café as others laugh, it feels as though he too is incapable of communicating with those around him.

Michael Buerk is fast becoming the go-to man for mock-serious advertising. He now lends his journalistic gravitas to Three's campaign announcing users won't be stung for using their phone in even more countries abroad. Unfortunately for your social media feeds, one can now expect an epidemic of holiday selfies, animal photobombs, and shots of humorously tanned bellies.

Unstoppable forces and immovable objects collide head-on in this spot for Three, who are sponsors of the Irish Rugby Team. Imaginative visual metaphors communicate the fact that these aren't just physical battles that the team takes on - they're psychological too. Players vaporise charging rhinos, combust with the effort of weightlifting, and transfer the solidity of their bodies into the kinetic agility of a millions butterflies. Impressive stuff.

Dave and Sherri have been to the Grand Canyon. They drove. They used their phones to call and text the fact to everyone at no extra cost, because they're Three customers. Did we mention they've been to the Grand Canyon? No, we didn't. Dave and Sherri did. They drove there, to the Grand Canyon. That's right, the Grand Canyon. The Grand - oh, shut up, Dave and Sherri. Just shut up.

A trio of unlikely surfer dudes recount their tales of derring-do while we learn that they were able to take advantage of Three's picture messaging generosity to send proof of their exploits to their jealous friends back home. The problem with this proposition is that the target audience is actually quite savvy and would tend to use other means for sending their photos, so the offer isn't that impressive to them.

"The Perfect Surprise"

Three has created some hugely memorable commercials - the moonwalking pony, bespoke phone lines, and the apology, to name but three (aptly enough). Here's another one to add to the canon. In this, a father on what appears to be a solitary mountaineering expedition reassures his little girl he'll be home soon with the perfect gift.

11 Aug 2014
Another in the 'Sorry' series by Three features the Partridge-esque presenter dolefully apologising to everyone whose working day has been interrupted by a holiday snap. As we now know, the reason for the deluge of pics sent to colleagues is down to the fact phone charges are no dearer abroad than at home with Three, though one fears for the future of humanity when its holidaymakers can't think of anything better to photograph than a cheap cocktail.

"Apology"

The old 'false apology' ploy is unveiled in this ad for the Three network which has a spokesman making it clear that the service provider never meant to make its rivals' customers jealous by allowing their punters to use their phones as though they were in the UK when in fact they're abroad. It certainly grabs the attention and has been done with enough authenticity to fool you for a moment or two.
