Tombola continue thier attempts to convince us that online bingo is somehow both a sociable and socially-conscious activity. This time they show users meeting up at a bowling alley, while giant animated bingo cards suggest this is an elaborate dream and they're really interacting behind separate screens. We'd be interested to find out what 'awards for social responsibility' are too...

Tombola continue to play up the supposedly social aspects of their online bingo site in this confusing ad. A bake-off tent and a picnic with giant walls of animated bingo cards following people around is just... odd. They are literally drawing attention to the kind of thing people should be doing instead of playing online bingo.

We don't want to be overly pious about this and we accept that online bingo is enormously popular but isn't there something unedifying about pitching it as an outdoor pursuit? Not that we're suggesting the patrons should be shown pyjama-clad with a two-litre bottle of cheap cider on the go as they face the shrinking hours until the kids arrive home from school but - maybe - there's somewhere between these two extremes for Tombola to occupy.

Online bingo site Tombola unveil their new arcade game section by promising a totally new spin on amusements. Alas, this ad doesn't do a great deal to convey this ostensible revolution as a pair of live-action hands prod, swipe, and tap a procession of brightly coloured icons. Looks strenuous - at least sofa-bound gamers will get some extremely localised exercise.

A bunch of bingo players are let loose in a barn to play some new gambling thing from Tombola which costs as little as 5p per game. To illustrate the fact you can win £20,000, a wall of cards stands strung together in the middle of the barn, with unappetising marker splats landing on them like colourful cowpats. Yee ha.

Instead of heading down to their local bingo hall, this lot have been corralled into a room to play Tombola bingo on their phones and laptops. How very sociable. The site obviously wants to play up some kind of social aspect to their wares, but this is an unconvincing stab at hiding the reality that online bingo is an inherently solitary pursuit.

If you're going to be addicted to gambling, you might at least opt for something with a dubious aura of glamour such as poker or roulette. Having the facility to play bingo wherever you are is just - well - embarrassing. It's like walking from your sofa to your chair to get an extra cushion and calling it exercise. Gaah.

Urgent need to play bingo wherever you are, at whatever time of day? Well, no problem. Because Tombola have come up with a convenient little app for your mobile so should the desire overcome you in the cereal aisle of the supermarket, or at the funeral service of a work colleague, you can now whip your phone out and get some relief.

Once again this online gambling site uses images of people out and about to illustrate its proposition. This is baffling when you consider how different it is from the solitary nature of sitting in front of a laptop and playing games for money.

Of all of the online bingo companies, Tombola appeared keenest to persuade us that it's possible to have a normal functioning life even though you also enjoy playing bingo on a laptop. It's a game effort (if you'll forgive the pun) but we remain sceptical and find the constant emphasis disingenuous.

Another commercial for the online bingo site that is the boldest of its type in trying to persuade the target audience of the wholesomeness of what it offers. Here punters are engaged in the kind of activity that they actually eschew in favour of gambling in front of a computer.

No. You cannot equate healthy outdoor activity alongside friends with the experience of playing bingo online. The wholesomeness on the screen bears no relation to the seedy experience of frittering away money you cannot afford on games you cannot win. Grrrr.

Once again, an online gambling company advertises its service as though it's wholesome and sociable. You'd think Tombola was a holiday resort from the way it's advertised and its sociability might seem less attractive to punters if they realised they were mere chat-room denizens.

There's a hint here that Tombola's punters all get together from time to time and have some wholesome fun outdoors. Quite a contrast with the reality which has them hunched over their laptop whittling away the housekeeping money while exchanging pearls of prejudice.

A series of bumpers advertising Tombola's sponsorship of Emmerdale. Various characters from the fictional village of Tomobola are depicted in each of the short clips in a bid to suggest that it is twinned with the equally fictional Yorkshire soap opera location.

According to this commercial, there's always something new arriving on Tombola. A postman swims ashore and asks a spokesman to sign for a crate containing something called 'Bingo 50'. However, we are not told what this is.

Another attempt to persuade us that sitting in front of a computer and syphoning away all your money is almost exactly the same as visiting a tropical island paradise. Naturally, it's all a bit tongue-in-cheek to dodge any notion that it's misleading.

An unlikely double act as a sober looking white man in a tuxedo explains a special offer available from the gambling site and everything he says is echoed by Tito - a ukulele-playing black man sat on the beach beside him. More charming than it sounds but not much.

According to this ad, frittering away your life savings online is as much fun as living on a tropical island. It's all a bit tongue-in-cheek but you can't help feeling that ads for online gambling ought to be a good deal more responsible.

An attractive piece of animation tries to lure fools into parting with their money in this ad for yet another online gaming site. They promise that the fun will go on and on... though, we reckon the fun might run out around the same time as your bank account.
