IT'S ACADEMIC FOR DORIAN & DANIEL.

German upstarts Dorian Lebherz and Daniel Titz aim to build on their early promise by joining Academy Films and A+.

The pair got the ad world excited in late 2015 with their spec film for Johnnie Walker which accrued countless views and much acclaim. Since then, Dorian & Daniel have been preparing for their next big step and Academy Films is ready to let them loose on the UK market.

Remind me again - these are the two who just woke up one day and decided to shoot a Johnnie Walker ad? Pretty much, yeah. Being students at the Film Academy of Baden-Württemberg, they had the know-how, but no-one could have expected such a polished outcome. Not all students are layabouts, you know.

Well, that’s one way to “keep walking”. Most impressive. Especially when you consider they had to face something which even seasoned directors dread: the Scottish weather. Still, these things build character, and the duo brought home something special.

Their work shows a comprehensive and natural understanding of their craft and maturity far beyond their years.

 ”

I hear they pitched to another big brand afterwards. You’re thinking of ‘The ABC of Death’ for Volvo. Dorian & Daniel thought of a blackly comic way of promoting autonomous driving controls, depicting various unfortunate demises. Funnily enough, Volvo gave their blessing to the idea.

Not a bad start to your career, eh? Too right. Now Academy are keen to guide them towards even more success. According to the press release: “Their work shows a comprehensive and natural understanding of their craft and maturity far beyond their years.” Let’s see where they go from here.
